IV LUXURY GOLF TROPHY®
American Express Cup
The IV LUXURY GOLF TROPHY® American Express Cup took place on Friday January 2nd, 2009.
The tournament was organized at the facilities of Club del Lago Golf and the prize-giving ceremony was held at THE SETAI, Jose Ignacio, hosted by Jean Paul Bondoux - the patron of honor of the event.
The tournament was accompanied by fine weather so the many amenities and activities concurrent with golf - such as muscle warm-up and massages, brunch, champagne tasting, relaxing at the lounges arranged in the golf course for the occasion, among others – were able to be carried out as scheduled.
By tradition, The Luxury Challenge® game took place after players finished the rounds. This time around, all players devoted their best efforts to winning the hard-fought American Express prizes for USD 500 in purchases from the Club’s Pro Shop, Jean Pierre’s ceramic wristwatch and the Baron B box, which was only attained by the successful stroke of Fiorella Bonicelli who – before venturing it - carefully studied the successful strokes achieved for each prize and resolved to risk her 3 strokes on this hard-to-get prize that nonetheless offered great chances of winning it if she rose to the challenge.
There was no winner of the Hole-in-one prize so the two tickets to Paris will be available once again through ASATEJ Viajes – Corporate Division – in the next edition of the Tournament.
The day after at noon THE SETAI opened solely for the Tournament participants to hold the prize-giving ceremony and the auctions to the full benefit of the childhood cancer foundations – Flexer of Argentina and ACCI of the Dominican Republic.
In a highly relaxing and exclusive atmosphere, Jean Paul Bondoux of La Bourgogne, together with Chandon, welcomed us with an unbeatable proposal of French cuisine and an exquisite attention to details as is his usual fashion and hallmark.
Players full of expectations started to arrive at The Setai tents by noon, a place still unknown to most of them.
Amid a mixture of sand, acacias, pine trees and the sea, José Ignacio boasted its full splendor and natural beauty, allowing the Luxury Golf Trophy - loyal to its unique style - to present its advocates with an exclusive and unparallel activity perfectly embodying the Simple Luxury philosophy of the tournament.
The auctions offered a selection of Jean Pierre’s jewelry, a picture of Vázquez - the internationally renowned Uruguayan artist -, and a limited collection of Arte de Café of Plutarco Andújar – a Dominican artist – among other outstanding pieces of art.
